Frequently Asked Questions

What is an “Official” Transcript?

An official transcript is UNT's certified statement of your entire academic record at UNT, and will include undergraduate and graduate coursework, as well as any transfer credit accepted. Official transcripts are either printed on special security paper with the Registrar's signature, the date printed and the school seal, or delivered electronically as a PDF. Both formats are available through a secure third party provider, Parchment.

If I order an electronic copy of my transcript, is it really “official”?

UNT has appointed Parchment as the designated agent for processing and sending official electronic transcripts on your behalf. The PDF transcript that is produced using this service contains the identical information as the printed transcript and can be certified as unaltered by the recipient during the delivery process. Though UNT considers transcripts produced this way as 100% official, it is the student's responsibility to ensure the anticipated agency/recipient will accept them and that this format will meet their needs. Note: Transcripts that include academic records prior to 1984 are not eligible for electronic delivery and will be printed and mailed.

PLEASE NOTE: The PDF transcript will be considered an Official Transcript to the “Intended Recipient” for whom you request the order to be sent. The Official Transcript will be available on the service for 48 hours after it has initially been downloaded (excluding weekends and holidays). The PDF transcript is no longer official if it has been printed and will state “PRINTED COPY” on the face of the transcript. Forwarding a PDF transcript through e-mail makes it unofficial.

If I have a question about my order, who do I contact?

UNT has appointed Parchment as the designated agent for processing and sending official electronic and paper transcripts on our behalf. Parchment has been granted the authority to process official transcript orders and respond to any inquiries regarding those orders. If you have questions about the process or encounter difficulty with your online order, first log into your Parchment account, then visit the Parchment Help Center, where you can find answers to frequently asked questions and articles to support your needs.

From the Parchment Help Center, you can submit a web case for support or contact a Learner.

Support Representative for assistance. The Support Team is available M-F, 8am - 8pm ET. If you are still having trouble, students can also request official hard copy transcripts in person on campus at ESSC 147. This is a pickup service only. In person transcripts requests will not be mailed and electronic transcripts are not available through this service. In person orders can be made Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with a picture ID.

Can I see an unofficial transcript for my own records?

Will both my undergraduate and graduate records be included?

UNT does not issue partial transcripts that contain a student's undergraduate or graduate records separately. UNT transcripts are complete records of your entire enrollment at UNT and will include undergraduate and graduate coursework, as well as any transfer credit accepted.

After I place the order, when will I receive my transcript?

Requests for paper copies will be processed and mailed within five business days of receipt. Requests for electronic copies will be sent as soon as processing is complete and are typically received the same day. You can follow your order status through Parchment. Note: Transcripts that include academic records prior to 1984 are not eligible for electronic delivery and will be printed and mailed.
